West Chester University's Pi Alpha Alpha Chapter sponsored the 2015 inaugural event featuring Dr. Bob Denhardt, Professor and Director of Leadership Programs at the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy.
Our co-sponsors for the evening included: Cheyney University's public administration program, Penn State Harrisburg's Doctoral Student Association, and Shippensburg University's Pi Alpha Alpha Chapter.
Dr. Denhardt has published over 100 articles in professional journals, and his major books include The New Public Service and Theories of Public Organization. He received ASPA's Waldo Award for Lifetime Achievement in Scholarship in Public Achievement and ASPA's Levine Award for teaching, scholarship, and service to the profession and community.
"Praxis in Public Administration" was the evening's theme, and Dr. Denhardt spoke with the audience about the importance of what he calls "squishy skills," like compassion and empathy, in being a good manager.
